Winnipeg Folk Festival in Mid-July is quite a treat! It takes place in a provincial forest called "Bird Hill" Park. If you want a cheap way into Winnipeg from the states, fly to Minneapolis (cheapest to fly into). Don't fly into Fargo eventhough it's closer.
Drive 6 fun hours I-94W to I-29N, then keep driving straight and you'll be in Winnipeg. Then get on highway 59 and in 30 more minutes, you'll be at WInnipeg Folk Fest.
