The last time I went across, you needed either a birth certificate or passport AND a government-issued ID (drivers' license or another ID with your picture, date of birth, and address on it). Passport alone was not sufficient.
You can find current information on the US Government's website. Just Google "boarder crossing Canada" to find it. |

To enter into Canada, you need a drivers license or other government issued photo ID. If you have a passport, take it. Also, it is wise to have a birth certificate with you. Cuz you WILL need it to get back INTO the US. |

Hi. A US passport is enough to enter Canada. I travel to Canada by car/air about once a month and all I bring is my US passport. But of course you should also bring your drivers license and other important forms of identification.
Other than that, you don't have to worry about anything.
expect handful of questions from the guards or the securities though |

Travel to Canada or Mexico
A valid U.S. passport or proof of citizenship AND photo identification are required to enter Canada or Mexico. A valid passport or alien registration card is required for non-U.S. citizens traveling into Canada or Mexico.
Proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, is also required for all children traveling. A guardian traveling with children must provide proof of custody or notarized parental authorization for travel. |

You need a birth certificate and a passport. Things have changed since 9/11. |

You need to have proof of who you are, and where you live. These things have to have a picture, and your citizenship.
Birth Certificate
Driver's liscense
and coming soon, Americans will need a passport. |

As of today, 9/12/06, no, driver's license and birth certificate are sufficient (but this will probably change in the near future given the world we live in today). |

Yes at the moment driving into Ontario from the US , you'll need picture id (your driver's license) as well as your birth certificate or landed immigrant papers. This will be fine until at least the end of 2008.
Flying into Canada as of January 2007 you'll need a passport. |

You don't need one to go into Canada, but you will want it or a passport to get back to the U.S. |
