Citizens of the United States do not need a passport or visa to enter Canada, unless they are arriving in Canada from somewhere other than the USA. They do need to have on them proof of citizenship plus photo identification, although this is not often asked for.

If you live in the States and are trying to enter Canada by car, you don't need a passport until 2008.

As of Jan 23rd 2007 for air travel to Canada it is required to have a passport to travel to Canada. Starting Jan 1st 2008 you will need a passport for drive in vacations to Canada.

If you apply for a passport and are traveling prior to I believe it is Sept. 1st by air as long as you can show proof of applying for the passport they are waiving where you can show the old forms of entering Canada.

if you are an American you need passport to fly in to Canada but until next year you can drive over the border without one.Ive heard US residents have had trouble reentering the US with out a passport.
If your not American you may need a visa so best to check before you come

Grand pa
Not yet if comming from the USA
