i remember seeing on the news awhile back that they wanted to change the law that you would need a passport to go to canada but im not sure if they went through with it yet so if you no anything please let me know. thanks |

No. I am from Canada. You need a passport to travel by air only. No exceptions. You will need a passport to travel by land starting in January 2008. I am not sure about traveling from US to Canada, but that is from Canada to US.
Get your passport now, it can take over a month to get it due to huge lineups at the passport offices who close at 4pm (Gov't hours) and stop taking people at around noon. Go early! |

All the people who said yes are wrong. You can go to the state dep't website below to read the regulation for yourself. You only need a passport to go to Canada or Mexico right now if you areFLYING. After Jan. 2008, you will need a passport for all modes of travel to and from Canada and Mexico. |

Everyone gets this backward. To get into Canada from the US all you need is picture ID. The problem is going from Canada to the US. US officials insist on a passport if you fly from Canada to the US, and as of Jan 1 next year, you will also need a passport if you drive to the US from Canada. So you don't need the passport to get into Canada, you need it to get back into the US. |
