Do you think we will have a coalition government (Canada)? Opinions? |

This pretty well sums up my expectation that the Liberals are doing this for the good of anyone other than themselves:
Here's is the voice-over of a television election ad paid for by the Liberal Party of Canada, January 2006.
"Gilles Duceppe and Stephen Harper worked together to bring down the government. Lots of late night secret meetings. Apparently, they're quite a team. Which is great. Because if Harper wins this election? He'll have to work very, very closely with Duceppe. Unfortunately, their unity won't do much for Canada's unity." |

Personally I am livid at whom I now call the 3 Stooges..namely Stéphane and "Jack & Giles" !
Given the current Global economic climate now is not the time to do this ,regardless if it's legal or not ..period!
The correct and appropriate thing to do would have been to weather this (world wide ) economic storm rather than mutiny at Canadians expense for polital gain !
I hope it bites those three short sighted imbeciles in the behind....and it will eventually , but at a great cost , and to Canada's detriment.

Yup. It doesn't look democratic but they have the right to do that because in our system based on the British Parliamentary system, we vote for the MP's not the leaders, and they have a right to form a coalition if they agree on it. Now the Governor General has to give it her rubber stamp. I think she is more likely to do that then to let Harper suspend parliament until January just to avoid a no confidence vote. Whether or not this coalition will be a good thing for Canada, I don't know. Right now I don't have much confidence in the government either way. |

I REALLY hope not. I'm not just saying this because I'm from Tory Alberta...but Canada needs a government that will be able to function. Last thing we need is country being led by the Dion, at a time when the economy is going downhill. or worse, have ANOTHER election. (Last one was less then two months ago). They will simple spend a ton of money like previous governments.
Although I don't believe in all the views of the Conservatives, I still feel that their plan to balance the books is far more realistic without costly spending.
Right now, Canada looks like a bunch of idiots and cry babies on the world stage. |

I certainly hope so. Less than half of Canadian voters voted for Harper. Therefore, more than half voted for a party that will either be included in or support the coalition. Therefore, it is indeed the democratic solution.
A minority government is NOT what Canada needs right now. |
