"Hi".....I'm giving you a site to look at and that should help you and please make sure that you read it thoroughly and there are lots of sub-categories and links if you need info on some of the things mentioned ! I'm not going to "sugar coat" this for you and say it's easy but I will tell you that you just can't relocate here and move in with someone without some preparedness. It's not that difficult to do but it does take a while....so again really, really ,read through that site and understand all the ramifications and what's exactly involved !

http://www.goingtocanada.gc.ca/CIC/display-afficher.do?id=0000000000035&lang=eng

I understand you will be moving in with someone already here but there are some documents you'll need to be able to survive....for one thing you will not be able to work without a "work Permit" and that is covered in the above site !

You'll need a SIN (Social Insurance Number ) to be able to get Health Care and even attend school !

The border is not "OPEN" and you need to do some research first and I strongly advise you do this...do the homework on the legalities of moving here first ! *S*

I hope it works out well for you and extend to you and your family a warm a "Welcome" to Canada should you be successful in your reloaction and living here ! *S* (Michael C..)

No. The border between the US and Canada is the border between two nations.

You need permission from the Canadian Government to live and work in Canada.

When you get to the border you will be asked for ID. If you do not have the paperwork to enter Canada, you will be turned back.

If you go into Canada as a tourist, you will not be able to work or use any Canadian services. You will also be asked to show proof that you have funds to cover your stay as a tourist, and you will have to leave before six months is up..

Yes, the borders are open. You dont even know you have crossed into another province, unless you read a welcome sign.

Depends where you are moving to.....BC is fairly warm in the winter and scorching in the summer, unless you live in Vancouver where it rains 90% of the time.

Alberta is super cold in the winter and desert hot in the summer. Saskatchewan and Manitoba are the coldest provinces...you'll die ther in the winter....my friend says it goes down to -54C....egad!!

Ontario is where everyone lives mostly... its mild in the winter and super humid, hot and sticky in the summer with many power outages.

You need passport, birth certificates, if both of your parents are in the vehicle than it'll be fine however if you only come up with your father and your mother is coming the next kinda thing, your father needs a notarized (approved by a lawyer) letter of consent for travelling into a foreign nation with children under 18 (it could be 16).

They MAY or MAY NOT inspect your vehicle(s) and trailer(s) for any contraband paraphenalia.

You would need some papers to show - it is not an open border!!
