No its impossible... To much rushing water for it to freeze fast enough |

While areas of it may appear to freeze in the depths of winter the simple fact is there is too much moving water going over the brink of the falls for it to freeze. Even if an area did freeze the water would simply cascade over or under the ice and continue on. |

The last time it did freeze over, was in the early 1900's. With the OPG(Ontario Power Generations, the company that produces the hydro electricity from the water in the river) controlling the flow of the water in the river, the can adjust the amount by diverting it into the shafts built within the rock. Also, with the construction of the ice booms in Fort Erie, at the top of the River, they can control the build up of ice chunks floating in the water. No large ice chunks, less chance of a freeze up. |

No but you will if you stand near the falls in winter.
I did it once, I have never been so freaking cold. |

I have seen photos of Niagara Falls when it froze, but that was years ago, it would have to be an abnormally cold and severe winter for that volume of water to freeze but it did before so to answer your question, yes it can. |

No, there is too much water |

Parts freeze, but the force of the moving water falls keeps it free of icing up for the most part. It is beautiful in the winter. |

The last time it did was in 1911- apparently. I can't find any reputable sites saying this is true, though. But that would go along with the person who's father worked at the power station....
Some photos? http://thecontaminated.com/niagara-falls-frozen/
Accuracy is not proven to be Niagara Falls either |

Scientifically speaking an moving object does not stop (Freeze) due to its kinetic energy. Kinetic Energy comes down to zero and becomes potential energy ( Becomes frozen to ice ) . But the fall is perpetual so it won't happen. It winll not freeze. |
