Does a US citizen need a passport to go on a cruise to Alaska from the US?

Will a birthcertificate do> would I need my marriage license and drivers license?

Not unless you are NOT an American citizen. FYI: Alaska is the 49th state..uh, IN the USA!

No, you are traveling in the same country. You only need ID, because it's stupid to travel without it.

Are you stopping in Canada on the way? Then it would probably be a good idea to have your passport. Due to increased security, you soon will need to show your passport when travelling to Canada.

Of course not.

Alaska is actually part of the United States.

Of course, you would need a passport to get back from Texas.

atalarovich
No passport required for Alaska or Hawaii, part of the United States Territory.

Alaska is US, so you shouldn't need a passport to go from one US port to another. You're talking about the Seattle to Alaska cruises?
If you wanted to begin your cruise in Vancouver, BC, in Canada, you would need a passport, but I don't believe the Seattle cruises stop in Canadian waters, so there shouldn't be any need for passports, marriage licenses or anything else.
Check with the cruise company when you book your trip, just to make sure the cruise ship doesn't stop in Victoria or Prince Rupert, in which case you would need a passport if you left the ship.

Alaska is a part of the US. You only need a passport when you enter another country. Since Alaska is NOT another country, you don't need one.

of course not, Alaska is still the part of US.

Check your itinerary. Yes, Alaska is part of the US, but you pass Canadian coastline!

If you are visiting any of our beautiful Canadian ports (Vancouver, Victoria, or the Gulf Islands) you will need that.

My suggestion would be to bring it, just in case.

You dont need a passport to get into canada and Alaska is a part of the U.S. You will probably need a valid drivers liscense and for a backup bring your social security card.
