Does anyone know about the Canada Lottery/Ontario49?

Is it a scam?

Are you talking about the Canada Immigration Lottery or the actual lottery available in Ontario called Lotto 6/49?

The Lotto 6/49 is a ticket you can buy for a chance to win a multi-million dollar payout. Many Canadians play this lottery every week that is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You pick six numbers out of a possible 49 and if your six numbers match the ones drawn for that period, you win.

Of course, there could be more than one grand prize winner, so you may end up sharing the prize. And if you don't get all six numbers, the smaller prizes are REALLY disappointing. For example, 3 of 6 gets you $10. My aunt had 4 of 6 one time and only won about $1000. And the for the 5 of 6, some people have only won about $8000. It's really not worth it for the smaller prizes...but people still buy them en masse when the grand prize reaches $19million or so!

As for the other lottery I mentioned (The Canada Immigration Lottrey), that is really a cleverly concealed scam. A company in Canada is offering people a chance at having their immigration papers processed free of charge. But they have to apply to that specific organization and pay the fees before their names go in a draw. And that draw is done privately (not government controlled) so there is no way to know if anyone really wins. If they charge 100 applicants $1000 to process the paperwork, then choose one from all those people to "win", that person gets their $1000 back, but the others just earned that company $99,000 ! Beware of this company...they do not do anything with the paperwork that you cannot do yourself.

The lottery itself is legitimate HOWEVER if you received an email or a letter out of the blue telling you that you have won something then THAT is a scam. To play the lottery you must purchase a ticket through an authorized agent in the Province and check your numbers yourself.

No its not a scam, you can buy it at most convinence stores just like Super 7 and Lotto 649. Ontario 49 typically has a lesser jackpot..

Is thast '49' or '649'? If the former, I've never heard of it. If the latter, it's for real and generates huge amounts of revenue for Ontario
