Does anyone knows why we call Vancouver International Airport "YVR"?
That's the code for Vancouver International Airport.
If you haven't noticed, all airports have a 3-character code. For example, LAX for Los Angeles International, HKG for Hong Kong International.
Most Canadian airports start with a Y, and VR is short for Vancouver.

As per the previous answer, "YVR" is the 3 letter IATA (International Air Transport Association) code for Vancouver International Airport. All airports (& airlines) have an IATA code & an ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) code. Fyi - the ICAO code for YVR is "CYVR". For airports, the IATA code is always 3 letters & the ICAO code is 4 letters.

YVR is just the airport code. Every airport in the world has one.

It's on the east coast on an island. Take 99 to Bridgeport and then go east. Merge onto Grant McConachie Way. You can't miss it.
