Does canada really hate america?

well, they probably do hate us americans because we did make south park the movie, we did blame them about their bad health system, and we did make "canadian idiot" so i would only imagine the hatred they have for us.

Canadians love the American people but hate their government. You could easily say the same thing of Americans these days.

yes, well its debatable. Canada and US are right eside each other, so people put them together as twins, but canadas history is about peace, wild life, and teamwork. USA is about guns, war, and sucking the wilderness dry.

I don't think Canada really hates America. As someone else said, they're probably crticial of American government though.

A better question might be "How come a lot of Americans don't evaluate their own actions and way of life if or when someone else actually does criticize or disapprove of them?"

If a lot of people criticized me or my actions all the time, I'd take a good, long look in the mirror and evaluate if my actions and way of life were detrimental to others. To automatically dismiss criticism is pretty obtuse and short-sighted.

I don't hate the USA, but I think they need to stop invading other countries (the government needs to find other ways of resolving issues).

Americans are neighbours. Like the people who live next door, you don't get to choose them so you just need to speak civilly, and keep the hedge clipped.

If your father is originally from Canada, he should be able to tell you the truth about Canada, and not just the stuff people are saying about us or the silliness you see on South Park.

Canada and USA are pretty similar, although Canadians tend to like to distance ourselves from Americans. If our two countries were actually people, the Canadian would be the one no one notices in the room, but offers to step in and help when a problem arises or just to clean up. The American would be the one up front asking for action and demanding to be heard. It's simply a different approach. At least that is the impression that comes across when you talk to most Canadians.

I happen to know a lot of Americans that I like to call friends. Some are valued colleagues who do the same job as I do, some are people I met online playing MMOGs. They range from New York to Tampa, from L.A. to Houston. The only people I do not include in that list are people who are overly demanding, or who try to push their beliefs on me and try to tell me mine are wrong.

But you are 15, so you have lots of time to get to know us, perhaps visit and see for yourself what it's like. Things could change dramatically over a period of a few years. Changes in government policy, and events that are out of our control can influence everyone's thinking.

i was there and i loved it i didn't think they did stuff that upset people well i guess maybe legalizing gay marriage umm well people just asked questions like is it true ur tv is 2 weeks ahead in tv shows and we get it late.it wasnt bad they recycle to i think i might prefer canada instead of america from my experence

I like Americans that are not ignorant and don't ask stupid questions like "what currency do you use in Canada".

I don't feel like Canadians hate Americans - I certainly don't! Canadians pretty much have a live-and-let-live attitude.

However, the politics and actions of the US can really affect us here in Canada - when the decisions made by US leaders have an impact on our way of life, of course it's going to make us feel a bit uneasy, because we have no control over that.

Also, as others have stated, some Americans do tend to be uninformed about Canada in general... this can come across as if they feel like the US is the centre of the universe and they don't bother to learn about any other country.

Generally, Canadians are willing to treat Americans with respect as long as the same respect is shown to them.

There really... isn't that much difference between the USA and Canada. The differences that do exist are regional... definitley not cultural or national.

So if you like a place up here to live... go for it... but don't expect a huge cultural change.

From my Canadian client (because I believe we got on this convo and I asked him): they say they hate Americans but really they are jealous and want to be Americans.
