The drinking age up here is 19 everywhere except Manitoba, Quebec and Alberta where it is 18, and I believe that applies to people from everywhere, not just Canadians. Happy drinkin! |

Nah, that's just a rumour someone started to try to keep you kids out. But Ontario bars tend to like you to have Ontario-issued ID. Still, if you don't, and you have legitimate proof of age, they should let you in. |

The American government says it's 21 for Americans anywhere in the world, Canada does not enforce US laws though. You are legal in all provinces. |

no it does not matter from where you are.....if you are in canada then the age is 19..some provinces its 18.... |

That's a lie...You're legal to drink in Canada. Each province has its own legal age, but the oldest is 19, so it makes you legal. It doesn't matter where you're from. I'm not Canadian (international student) but I had to wait until I was 19 in Toronto (where I am) before I could buy alcohol/cigarettes/go clubbing. |

I don't believe so. I used to live in Maine, and kids were always going up north to get pissed. |

this is how it works, if you go to a country you have to abide their rules, so if their drinking age is 21 and you are 19 you are not allowed to drink regardless of which country you came form and what the drinking age was there.
same applies if i was to go to america, i would not be allowed in the pub where as if i were in germany i would be sharing the pub with 15 year olds. |

In Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec the drinking age is 19. Everywhere else it is 18. That applies to everyone. You need to have at least one piece of ID for most provinces, and for provinces like BC, technically you need two pieces of ID. Generally they take one piece of picture ID and then one other piece of government issued ID, which doesn't necessarily have to have your picture on it (can be a Visa or Mastercard even, but not a debit).
Hope that helps! |

In Canada, the legal age for alcohol is 19 in most provinces, 18 in some (Quebec for example).
It is illegal for Americans to consume alcohol in a foreign country if they are under age, but I have never seen that rule enforced in Canada, and to my knowledge, no bar or restaurant here has turned away a person based on their nationality/age combo.
Most bars and liquor stores WILL require you to produce identification if they feel you are below the age of 25. This is because they can lose their liquor license and be heavily fined if they serve/sell alcohol to minors.
As far as I know, it is the right of each establishment to refuse to serve you if they suspect you are underage or already too drunk. You cannot demand service or sue them for discrimination if they do not. It is their prerogative. (Of course, if they refuse to serve you because you are black, jewish, a woman, or from another ethnic or religious group, you may have cause for discrimination...it's proving it that is difficult.) |

Okay so I did a search of US law for this and this is what i found...
It is illegal for students studying internationally to drink underage. So if you are a student, studying in Canada, even though Canadians can drink at ages 18/19 (depending on the Province) you cannot legally drink until you're 21.
Given that, I know for a fact that law is either completely ignored or no one knows about it here because American students drink here all the time.
Anyway, given that you're not a student here...but just visiting, the law wouldn't apply anyway. Happy drinking:) |

Do you really think Canadian bartenders have so little to do that they can go around determining nationality before serving up a drink??
I will tell you that if you were my Grandchild and you came to visit me but then spent your time drinking in a bar, you would not get another invite to visit me. |
