Wow. How to make a simple thing complicated. The simple version of the above routes, from my own knowledge, is go north from TO on 400 and 69, turn west onto 17 at Sudbury, follow that west to Cache Creek, (it becomes 1 at the Manitoba border), turn north onto 97 at Cache Creek. You can't miss Quesnel on 97. Distance approx 5,000 km, driving time 5 days(60 hours) if you really hustle with one driver. You might still encounter some snow in the mountains at the end of April but with luck it will be gone from the roads.

you can go to google maps, and it will automaticall give you the best/quickest route to take, along with directions, and a map

freeside49
take highway 400 north and it turns into Hwy#11 which has little green maple leaf signs (trans canada highway) keep following the green maple leafs westward until you reach Kamloops, BC then head north on highway 97 to quesnel

The actual drive time behind the wheel one way will be about 55 hours.

Gone fishin'
Go through the states at Windsor/Detroit and head back up in Alberta.
It is about 5000 km and should take 3 days.
