When hell freezes over. Welcome to the Great White North.

Chloe;
Never.
You come to school when it's -45C and you're wearing sixteen layers and you can't move your arms because it's so cold. There will never be a snow day in Edmonton.

Welcome to the prairies, where snow days are a myth.

Besides, even if we DID have a snow day, what would be the point? Kids couldn't go out and play in the snow like in the movies, because it's -45C outside.

In winter country, snow days are very rare indeed. When I went to school in Edmonton, we set a record one year for the most days in a row (30 some-odd, I don't remember exactly)the temperature failed to rise above 30 degrees below zero (on the old Fahrenberg scale, of course) which, in Centigrade is about -22. Nothing closed for a day!

On country routes, the diesel school bus may be pulled off the road when the temperature drops too low, but the school itself doesn't close.

I think over the years I was in school I had maybe two days off. They were blizzards that actually shut down the entire city. Transit buses couldn't run, power shut off, etc.

Cold weather cancels recess and lunch play times in lower grades but rarely shuts down schools I'm afraid. Sorry!

Oops - forgot to mention that I grew up near Edmonton and then down in Calgary.

I also live in edmonton.
My teacher says we never
have snow days. Only if you live
in the country and take a bus.
I used to live in B.C there they
have snow days.

Jell-o
My school closed down the buses. It is sooo cold out isn't it?? I think it has to be pretty cold, abut I think it's pretty cold enough. If it keeps up tomorrow it might, because the roads are also covered in deep snow.

There is never snow days. It doesn't depend on how cold it is. There has to be a heck of a lot of snow for them to make it an official snow day, haha

FINGER
You've never had a snow day? I live in Southwestern Ontario, which is as far South as you can get in Canada, and I get them all the time. Fog days as well.

I have only had one day off due to cold, and it was like -40'ish with wind chill.

Your best bet is a white out or terrible road conditions, not the actual temperature.

Good luck! I'm in exams right now, I could really go for a snow day too.

The Beast from the Middle East
LOL... I hope school isn't gonna start on Thursday... it's so cold right now eh?

It is snowing like crazy lol, I heard it's gonna keep going this way for the next 3-4 days :s
