Actually the people who answered the question are off base.Marijuana laws are no where near as strict as in the US.Nobody goes to prison for 15 years for possession of a joint. As for living here i would suggest Bc the best weed and the best people. As for citizenship you would first have to apply for landed immigrant status. After a few years you can take the citizenship test.good luck |

Pot laws the same, police may be more lax, though.
It's just as hard for you to get citizenship. Being American doesn't mean ****.
You need skills to contribute to society, and as a heavy pot smoker, I doubt that's the case. |

It's not easy to get citizenship right now whatever your reasons are. If you have job skills and experience, are in good health with no criminal record you can apply but there are thousands ahead of you.

Stay home. We don't need you here. The laws are no laxer than anywhere else, and I don't want my taxes paying for your funeral bills. |

the laws here for marijuana smoking are the same here maybe even stricter. If thats the only reason you want to come to Canada, you might better stay there. |

Our laws about marijuana are much stricter than in the US... the only reason Canada is known for it's pot is because there is a lot here, there is so much open space that the cops have better things to do then try to find grow-ops in fields and forests, and there's a lot of people that want to legalize pot. But it isn't legalized, and probably won't ever be for recreational use.
The laws about drugs are nation wide, everywhere there are the same laws. But if you're totally set on the idea then you could move pretty much anywhere and you'll be able to get your hands on some if you know how. If you move to a small town you'll be less likely to get into trouble (from cops or gangs) but if you move to a city it'll be more readily available. Any major city, especially cities in BC and Toronto are big on pot.
As for becoming a citizen. If you can prove that you will be a productive person, not just some pot smoking bum, then you will most likely be granted citizenship. Most countries in the world like productive people. If you have a degree or family here, your chances are even better. |

canadian immigration has a real attitude
besides, your best bet is to quit smoking pot anyway |
