I don't find your question either funny or stupid. The others were wrong to ridicule you. You do not have to speak French to immigrate to this country. I live in Toronto (immigrated from the U.S. many years ago) and love it here. I do not speak French. It's common to hear foreign languages spoken in Toronto because our city is one of the most ethnically diverse in the world. You might enjoy checking out my Toronto blog which has many pictures, restaurant suggestions, etc. You'll love it here! http://thetravelzine-torontosc.spaces.live.com/

No, you dont need to speak French, but if you speak both English and French it will increase the chances that your case will be approoved by canadian government.

Toronto is OK, if you were going to Quebec that would be a different proposition, learning French would make your life easier.

You don't have to speak French, but it would would give you extra points on the Immigration Application...if you understand French it's an extra 6 points, if you speak French it's an extra 8 points, or if you speak, read, write, and understand French it's an extra 26 points.

no, But you need points to qualify, and you get the points out of these situations:

If you have immediate relatives in Canada, If you speak English, French, have a degree, have worked in canada over 1 year, have studied in Canada over 2 years.

GOOD LUCK!! ;)

No, you dont have to speak french but for Canadian immigration there is a point system and you get points for various things, like age, occupation, etc including speaking french. It adds your points but it is not a necessity.

No but it helps when you come across a Cannuck who doesn't speak English

Rest assured, you do NOT have to speak French to immigrate to Canada, nor is it necessary to speak French to live in Toronto. The majority of Canadians speak English, and in Ontario, except for those folk who work for the government (where bi-lingualism is compulsory at most levels), almost everyone speaks English.
Canada prides itself on being a multi cultural country, so you will hear lots of other languages spoken, but English is still the common link between them.
Quebec is unique in Canada, in clinging to its francophone background, and maintaining a francophone culture, but it does make Quebec a more interesting place to visit.
It's unfortunate that the language question seems to have gotten skewed so badly, at least, the perception of language requirements
because it really isn't a hassle at all.

And English as well........good luck

I think there are a lot of more important things you need to find out. You must know that you don't need to speak French - you're winding us up with that question. Seriously though, immigration is a really important step that will change your whole life - sounds like you have to do your homework and find out lots of things.

Japan_is_home
HAHAHAHA...your funny, NO!!! they speak english

No of course not, what a stupid question. For a start, most people in Canada speak English, and almost everyone in Toronto speaks English, not French.
