Going from Niagara Falls Ontario to Buffalo New NY for the day?

I'm going to Toronto in a couple of weeks and I'm spending a day in Niagara falls, I was also wanting to go to Buffalo NY for a few hours while I'm there, but we don't have a car.
What is the most efficient and and cost effective way to get there? Is there a bus or shuttle service? Taxi (is it expensive)?

I took Greyhound. I'l warn you though:

a)don't go to Buffalo on the weekend. It's a "typical" American city in that the white people all live in huge beautiful - but remote - suburbs and the downtown core just shuts down.

b)be aware that there's nothing really there except for a big suburban mall and really cute accents (the people are super sweet).

I take the Greyhound. It's only like 50$ and isn't very long. Good luck!

Visit the Niagara Transit site they Should Give You an answer

Just take a taxi-its about a 15-20 minute drive. Public transportation(like a bus) may be cheaper, but it will be a hassle. Take the taxi.

EDIT- I read it wrong. If you are coming from Niagara Falls, Canada, I would take a bus

Don't listen to them. I live in Buffalo. Go to Elmwood for shopping and food. Try Delish bakery, Spot Coffee or Cafe Aroma. There is shopping for clothes, accessories, etc. Go to Delaware Park and Delaware Ave. to go historical huge mansion site seeing. Go to Hertel for more dining options. You can check out the marina downtown which is not so great in the winter obviously. There is a huge navy ship there. Elmwood is where the younger, hipper, college and young professionals are. Check out City Hall in Niagara square and the psych center on Elmwood next to Buff State too. There is more to a city than malls, you have those everywhere. If you are on vacation do something and see things you can't at home otherwise what is the point in leaving your town?

I'm sure there's a bus. Why don't you try priceline, and rent a car? Very cost effective, even if for a day, and you can go anywhere you want! =)

Not much in Buffalo to see. Most of the stuff such as shopping is located in the outlying suburbs such as Cheektowaga and Amherst. However if your dying to go, just take a bus across and back...
