Going to Canada from US. Need Canadian money?

We are going to see Niagara Falls tomorrow and may go to the Canadian Side. Do we need to exchange for Canadian money? I think for the boat rides and stuff, they will probably take, but what about in the town stores and stuff?
Thanks

They will accept US dollars in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. The exchange rate will likely be 1 USD = 1 CAN, so not entirely favourable for Americans since the Canadian dollar is a few cents lower than the US dollar, but not really noticeable if you're only spending a few dollars here and there.

We take your money

The current exchange rate is around $1 US = $1.01 or $1.02 Canadian, so if they'll take $US at even exchange that works out ok for them (they make about 1% on the deal), but it would cost you that much or likely more to exchange it yourself anyway.

It is fairly common at places near borders where there is a lot of cross-border traffic for shops to do the currency exchange for you.

If the rates were farther apart, then they might still accept $US, but at a different rate than 1-1.

we take your money and give the exchange rates, they are often posted next to the cash register at bigger stores.
now if only the US would do the same...as i live close to the border it would make spending time and money there easier..
enjoy the falls.

People who work in stores there just call it even...

its not that big of a deal

Most places along the border will take American money with no problem.
