Not until January.

Apply for one now. They are currently taking 8 weeks.

shazbotbaru
according to my travel agent wife, you will need a passport starting Jan 2007, but it would be better to check it out first....good luck.....

damesha
NO.
I live in Detroit and can cross into Canada without a passport.
They ask you 2 or 3 questions and may make a random search of your vehicle and then you're off.

nope, not until 2007. If you fly in 2007 to canada, you will need a passport, if you drive to canada, you just need your Birth Certificate!

camandizmom
not yet, you will in January, I believe. I go back and forth all the time, and haven't needed mine yet.

It's always better to have one when traveling - but so far you don't need one. You do need proper I.D. (Original Birth Certif. and Photo I.D. etc...)

If you're traveling with children and only one of the two parents it's very important to have a written letter from the other parent stating that he/she is allowing you to enter Canada from this date to that date with a signature and a phone number so they can call and confirm.

I travel often from Canada to the US with my children and without my husband - they ask for the letter every time.

Happy travels

Not yet...by air January 8 2007 you will need one for renentru to the USA. By ground you will need a birth certificate (original) and a piece of photo ID like a drivers license.

Keep checking the news though and travel agents...the way the governments are going this will change next week again :P

You don't need a passport to enter Canada from the U.S.A just yet. You will need federal or State issued photo id. You will need just as much id to get back into the U.S.A. than to get into Canada. Have a nice trip.

Masiosare
To travel anywhere abroad you need a passport!

kreemnpeechez
yes.

Bubblione
Yes, you do.

sweet_truth
Of course!

Monster J
Yes.

Also how would you expect to get back into the States without a passport?
