Has anybody been to Victoria, BC, Canada? I am planning a trip and would like some imput.?

We are going to be there for 2 days and I do not want to waste our time. I also do not want to spend money on tours that are not worth it. Kid friendly places would be great.

Victoria is a charming city. There is plenty to do in addition to the Empress Hotel and tea already recommended. There is the excellent Royal British Columbia museum, Parliment buildings, picturesque streets and harbor, parks, opportunities for shopping, and of course close to Victoria are the beautiful Beauchart Gardens. Absolutely gorgeous, especially the sunken gardens. If you have time to drive a bit up the Island, you'll see rugged scenery and maybe some wildlife.

You must go to the wax museum!

Also the craigdarroch castle is very cool to tour.

Free for kids , Beacon Hill Park on Dallas Road has a kids petting farm ...Up in the trees is a bald Eagles nest, ducks and swans to feed in the ponds... take seeds not bread...
A wonderful walking path along the ocean.
Butchart Gardens is beautiful especially at night...
Definitely walk around the inner harbor , see the museum and Parliament Buildings.

High Tea at the Empress is a waste of money and most boring for kids.
Go whale watching.
Have lunch on the 5th Floor at The Bay on Government Street.
The Soup is delicious.

One memorable event that we did in Victoria was have high tea at the Empress Hotel (Like they do in Britain) what a treat. They also have a fun pub called the Sticky Wicket.
Make sure to walk down by the water, they have a lot of great street entertainers and artist. Had a great time. Would go again.

Everything that Kari said is true, this summer the Royal Museum has an exhibit from the Titanic until Oct, tours at the Parliament buildings are free and run every 1/2 hour, lots of buskers at the Inner Harbour, Emily Carr's home (famous BC artist) For more info call 1800hellobc and they will send you tons of free info on any area of BC . Hope you have a great time in Victoria!

Two days is just about perfect for a Victoria visit. It is a most lovely and charming little, compact city, with delightful Edwardian architecture. Almost all of the city is walkable, although some of the better restaurants are on the fringes (if you are from out of B.C. take advantage to try some of our wonderful wines, which we drink mostly ourselves; hardly any are exported. The "New York Times"'s wine critic recently called them "often absolutely delicious."
