Has anyone been to Canada within the past few months? IF SO HELP!
I am going to Canada on Saturday. What do I need.
Here is my Problem. I am adopted and my adopted Parents Changed my Name From Sherry Ellen to Kerrin Nicole when I was adopted. SO obviously, My BC name dosen't match My drivers license..What do I do? Additional Details I am an American Citizen living in Michigan.
If you're flying, you need a valid passport. If you're driving, you need a birth certificate and photo id.
There must be some documentation that your parents have, about changing your names? Take a certified copy of that along, too.
Have a great trip!

all you need to cross the border (by car) is a birth certificate (to show your american citizen) and government issued photo id. to verify who you are
If going by air you now need a passport to get back to the US.
Dont be too concerned about the differing names.. it doesnt matter.. for all they know your BC is your maiden name and your DL is a married name or you legally changed your name or as in your case ...as well adoption is pretty common.
I doubt very much they'll even question it and if they do just give them the honest answer... you wont have a problem.

You need to bring a copy of your Name Change certificate.
And as others have mentioned, you need a passport if you are flying.

If you have a passport take it with you when you cross the border. Lots of people change their names and it doesn't seem to effect them.

The best thing would be to get a passport. Otherwise, the driver's license should be enough, especially if you have a school id as well.

when i passed the border all they did was ask were we were going and how long wed be there .. i wouldnt worry too much about it
.
You need a passport to go to Canada now. Your birth certificate isn't enough to get you in and out, and because yours is messed up, you may have more problems than most.
