Has anyone been to the Canadian National Exhibition before? |
Is it worth attending for a bunch of girls from the states? What kinds of things are there to do there? If we go, should we plan on spending an entire day there? We are planning on being in the Toronto area for five days and also are visiting Casa Loma, the Toronto Zoo, and the Ontario Science Centre, and don't want to be rushed when we go to visit attractions. |

About 25 times actually.
You'll need the whole day & night at the Ex.
The OSC is a full day trip in itself. There is alot to see at the OSC on Don Mills Rd...
Casa Loma I have not been to in about 10 years, so I can't comment on that place. Sorry.
The Zoo is a nice, I actually live right beside the Zoo on Sheppard & Mornigside Ave. |

The 'EX' as it's known, is FANTASTIC, and this year there are apparently some great live shows, all free with your admission - one of the highlights being a 'Cirque du Soleil' style show, that will be shown in a lounge/cabaret format for 19+ in the evenings - it looks amazing based on the site (theex.com)
There is also slated a hypnotist, dog shows, and the Chinese lantern fest is on at the same time. It will be good fun!! |

The EX is a great piece of TO culture and history. You will definitely get to see who and what resides in Toronto. Don't forget that Ontario Place is right there too. They have a water park and some other highlights worth checking out since your going to be there already. The CN Tower you didn't mention. Check that out. Lived in Toronto all my life and just went for the first time. I am 28 years old. Funny how you take advantage of what you have available to you when it's there. For a bunch of girls on adventure you will have to visit Queen Street for some fantastic shopping. If you are interested in going to the CNE just for the rides I would recommend going to Canada's Wonderland instead. Kinda like our version of a Disney or Six Flags. Plan to spend a day anywhere you go. And pack your own lunch. I know it sounds cheap but it beats paying 10 buck for a couple slices of pizza. Not at the EX though. Get into the mini donuts and beer. Ahhh so many memories are coming back LOL hmff maybe I'll see ya there. |

I only passed through the CNE on my way to a Rolling Stones concert in 1994, but the city as a whole is great. Casa Loma is well worth a visit, Queen St and Bloor St have some nice shops (the former more second-hand, the latter more upscale), and from the top of the CN Tower (where you can have a drink or a meal) you can see all the way to the US. Have a great time. |

Many times, but not in the last five years or so. There are always alot of things to do at the EX, horse shows, dog trials, a good midway, the FOOD building which gives out samples.
Not sure what the admission price is anymore but the TTC will get you to the Prince's Gates. Ontario Place is close by too and it's fun for kids. Think of the EX as a big country fair because originally that's what it was.
Enjoy your time in T.O. |

I have gone to the Ex every year since I was a child. It's a good place to meet people (hint, hint). There is a midway as well as great shopping & interesting shows. It's an historic event that all Torontonians enjoy (or else!) I would plan on spending the better part of the day there - many people enjoy the midway after the sun goes down.
To be honest, I would probably visit Queen St. & Kensington Market, Canada's Wonderland, the Toronto Islands, etc. You may enjoy some of these places more than the attractions you were planning to visit, depending on your ages.
Have a great time. Toronto is filled with great places & events if you know where to look :-) |

Been to the CNE many times when I was younger. You could spend a couple of days there. Like all exhibitions there are plenty of rides in the midway, games and haunted houses. There are also a lot of agricultural things to do and learn there. In addition admission also includes entry into Ontario Place where there are usually pretty good concerts playing over the summer. Casa Loma, Metro Zoo and Ontario Science Centre should prove to be enjoyable too. If you have time you should also try to get to see the CN Tower, and travel around our fine province to see some of the beautiful countryside. Welcome to Canada and I hope you have an enjoyable experience. |

Haven't been there. But we're planning to. My friends say it's good. [Actually, they're my mother's friends. But friends all the same.] :)
And hey, go to Spadina in Toronto.. In Chinatown, lots of great cheap clothes. :) |

Hey Hope you girls have a great trip.
If I was visiting Toronto for only a few days i personally would not bother with the Canadian national Exhibition it is nice but just like any other fairs around. Casa loma is nice and the Zoo and science centre. It is also really nice just to take a day and travel around the downtown area like the Eaton centre, the C..N Tower,
Queen Street, Yonge and Dundas, The LakeShore Yorkville, and other stuff like that Anyways hope I helped a bit and I hope You enjoy your Trip to our city |

Definitely worth it to go and you'll have time if all you are visiting is the three things you mentioned above. You'll need a day each for the Science Centre and the Zoo. I don't remember how long Casa Loma takes but it won't be a full day. The Ex is definitely worth going to and you'll have lots of fun. Make sure you try a BeaverTail at the Food Building - definitely worth it. |
