I was there last summer. I won a trip. Im in Ontario. It was the first time I flew, saw mountains, and saw an ocean. The city itself is excellent. Friendly people, and very clean. I felt safe there, even downtown. If you are into bicycling, you can rent a bike and tour the city that way. They have bike trails everywhere and bike paths along most of the roads. If you go, be sure to visit Stanley park. beaches and hiking and biking trails. And then the city has all sorts of districts... gas town (which has cobble stone type roads in that area.. really pretty at night) and granville island is a must - take the sea bus across (yep a boat thats a mini bus). Granville is a market place. And take a ride on the air bus too (like an above ground subway and unmanned).
I would really love to go back there. So yes I recommend it. :) |

Its ok for a trip if you don't mind the overpopulation of Chiness,Hindu, and now blacks living there....Vancouver is a multicultural sess pool, enjoy.
But the beach front and mountain view is nice.....:/ |

Hi! I grew up in Victoria and have lived in Vancouver for the last five years. Both cities are fantastic (they're only a 2 hour ferry ride apart) with lots to do and see. The people are friendly, the restaurants in Vancouver are exceptional, and there is something for both the city-lover who wants to shop and see the trendiest martini lounges and the outdoor enthusiast who can see gorgeous beaches, rainforest, and mountains all in the same day. You could spend a whole day in Stanley Park alone, and over on the island, Victoria is home to a ton of touristy attractions like the Wax Museum, Empress Hotel, etc. And lots of "hidden" attractions that the locals will be pleased to direct you to.
Hope you enjoy your visit! |

I've lived here all my life --57 Years---and have never wanted to leave...even though I worked for an international airline for 31 years and saw much of the world...Nothing compares to Vancouver. It can rain a fair amount in the winter..but nowhere else in Canada can you wear shorts in January on a nice day. |

not really it just rains like hell all along the pacific coast. you'd be much better off going to an inland city like toronto or montreal. they have everything vancouver has, and more, as well as good, decent weather. |

Vancouver, Canada, is a wonderful place. First of all, it has the best weather in Canada. When the rest of the country is under six feet of snow, they are still playing golf in Vancouver. There's so much to do -- Vancouverites are great on outdoor activities, everything from lawn bowling to beach volleyball. There's also a ton of cultural events. Right now the Bard on the Beach series is on -- Shakespeare, done in tents on the beach. If you've never tried it, don't miss it. It will be a highlight. There is also the international fireworks competition -- four nights of eyepopping pyrotechnics. You can climb or ride up Grouse Mountain, for a spectacular view of the city -- it just goes on and on.
Why not visit and see for yourself? |

I was there in Sept '05 (from NYC), and it was the only place I ever visited that I wanted to move. Stunning sceneary - do you like the outdoors?? Fabulous food - do you like ethnic cuisine?? And when I ws there - terrific weather. Great skiing too, if you're there in the winter. I went to Whistler/Blackcomb in Jan ' 03 and it rained - try Feb or March if that's what you're thinking.
I'd go back in a minute! Have fun! |

I'm biased because I've lived here all my adult life ... but yes, it's a fabulous place to visit. There's something for everyone here, whether you like outdoor pursuits (the combination of mountains & ocean is breathtaking), or are more interested in culture & heritage. It's also a great city for shopping, from standard mall stuff to high-end boutiques to ecclectic and unique, to the various cultural-specific parts of town.
The multicultural nature of the city makes it fantastic for food, and we're rated the top restaurant city on the west coast of North America. There are all the top restaurants of course, but you can also find some fabulous cuisine from every corner of the globe for really cheap prices.
There are a million great web sites, but here's a good one to start with: |

It is great because of the ocean and mountains, and Victoria, BC nearby is a beautiful city. You can also take cruises from Vancouver. |

It's okay there. The scenary is like any place in the Pacific Northwest. It is VERY expensive. The foreigners there add some spice. |
