I have visited Vancouver and it is a Canadian version of Seattle. The place is called Granville Public Market which is a Canadian version of Pike Market in downtown Seattle. There is a place called the Gastown where the nightlife is really great. Enjoy yourself in British Columbia in December and give me my ten points for the hook up of this question.
Also, if you like Chinese food then Vancouver is where it is at. There is a Chinese buffet that is in the outskirt of Vancouver (called Richmond) where my friend and I ate at. The food buffet was big, very good and very cheap. There are a lot of Chinese people in Vancouver by the way as well as many other Asian nationalities.
My personal opinion by the way is it was very good and beautiful just like Seattle. |

Been there on holiday twice. I find it very laid back, beaches are nice, people are friendly, scenery is fantastic. There are some not so nice areas though, but they are mostly off the tourist map.
Must see's : Grouse Mountain, English Bay, Kitsalano. |

All excellent feed back!!! If you have time - do try to make it to the burbs.... specifically Fort Langley - the Birth Place of BC and if we were still there I would - of course - suggest you stay with us at our B&B near Fort Langley. However, we are currently on "leave" in Barbados , making our retirement dollars before coming back to reopen our B&B for the 2010 Olympic games.
But by all means check out the B&B's.... 100% best way to go as the owners know where what and how to best experience Vancouver and area. |

fed up with stupid questions

I've only been there in May, and had a month of sunshine, which is very unusual. it's a beautiful city in a stunning location, but i'm not sure about the winter. it wouldn't be possible to up up the coastline in winter i'm sure, and that is a trip by boat which should not be missed, people don't have cars in their drives, they have floatplanes, and the waterfalls further up dropping hundreds of feet into the passage are incredible. Sailing Hobie cats across the bay to small bars on islands, the snow on distant mountains, and English properties overlooking the city, classic houses up around West 45th and the Von Tiesenhausen HiFi store. Great place, but in the SUN. |

I do bus tours in this city. Robson is great. Be sure to swing by Gas Town and check out the steam powered clock. QE (Queen Elizabeth) Park is well worth the time. Stanley Park is very good to visit and you can get some extremely nice shots of the city. ALSO, be sure to spend some time to ride the trams up Grouse(sp?) Mountain, where the view is beyond words.
However, I think my absolute favorite part of the Vancouver experience would be how you can walk around this city and feel at home in any of the shops or restaurants. |

It's very nice. The scenery is incredible. All of the people I ran into were friendly and helpful. We stayed on Quadra Island just across the water from Campbell River. Got a temporary fishing license for regular fishing a for digging clams.
Have fun. |

In December, it will rain cats and dogs.
You will need several umbrellas.
If you like snow - go up to Whistler. |

I've been there. Stay near downtown and Robson Street and you'll have a good time. Robson Street is where you go shopping.
Then you can walk over to English Bay. But in December, it will be too cold.
The Japanese Restaurants are very good too.
It's a very clean and modern city. |

I live near Vancouver so I'll give you the honest truth if I can.
December is a great time to come to Vancouver. It's my favourite time, with all the Christmas lights and stuff. Robson Street downtown is a good place for tourist to shop in the evening with all the holiday decorations, but the stores close at 9pm.
Grouse Mountain is a must. You take a tram gondola ride up and have a great view of the entire city.
Stanley Park is another attraction that's popular. You can take the Christmas train ride. There are two revovling resturants in the city that would be great to eat at with spectacular views.
If you are coming to Vancouver for a couple of weeks and have time, you should serious think about taking a ferry to Vancouver Island to Victoria BC and having dinner at the Empress Hotel. Victoria and the Empress Hotel is like London, England almost. And the ferry ride has amazing views of our coastal waters. Its like a cheap cruise.
Now for the down side:
Some areas of Vancouver are really, really scummy. Avoid hastings street. (drug invested) Never, never bring out a tourist map in public. The pan handlers will harass you if they see that. And we have A LOT of them.
Some tourist complain that Vancourites aren't friendly people. And they probably are right. There have been a lot of asian people that have moved here from Hong Kong and they can come across as being as rude at first.
But everyone is in a happy, great mood at Christmas :) |

I've lived here 57 years...my whole life cause I refuse to leave...why would I want to leave paradise?
It can rain a lot in the winter..it is a rainforest which is why it's so green...but very rarely snows. |
|

why hello there
|
My parents recently got back from a trip there. They said it was absolutely beautiful and the city was very nice. There was a lot to do and see. The pictures and stories look and sound wonderful. I too would love to go.
hope this helps.
enjoy your trip!! |

December is a wonderful time to visit Vancouver. You'll still see people out jogging, playing tennis and golfing. Vancouver does get a bit of snow in the winter -- not much and it doesn't last long -- but it's pretty at Christmas time.
Starting around the tenth of December, there are a series of carol ships that take harbor excursions. Some offer buffet dinners, some just appetizers. But they're a great way to see all the city lights - and Vancouver is pretty at the best of times. Decorated up for Christmas it's spectacular. There is also a Christmas train ride in Stanley Park that is a wonderful, seasonal thing to do.
Please come, and enjoy your visit. |

It's beautiful. Lots of trees. Tiny farms in the middle of town. Really really good restaraunts, especially if you're interested in ethnic food like Japanese. Very friendly people. I wasn't there more than a day or two at a time for work, but what I did see was very nice. Bring lots of money, though because Canada is expensive... |
