Where I live (in the Maritimes/East coast) there are loads of British expats. The workforce at my last place of employment was almost entirely made up of British immigrants. They seemed to like it here, settled in and started families years ago.... although one guy wondered why he didn't emigrate to Australia whenever winter rolled around.... LOL
FYI: housing is cheapest in Atlantic Canada, the most expensive place to live is Vancouver (twice as much). Atlantic Canada gets a bad wrap for having a higher unemployment rate, but it's only a bit higher and is mainly due to the rural communities who are seeing the end of the fishing era. Halifax is a bustling city with lots of multiculturalism, yet small enough to have a very low crime rate. It's also quite beautiful with lots of parks and in a province that is known for it's beautiful scenery wherever you go outside the city.

Here is the oline self-assessment test you can take to see if you qualify to immigrate as a "skilled worker":

You need to apply to the Canadian High Commission (http://www.canada.org.uk) - the forms are all online.
You are rated on your 'points' (what you can contribute to Canada) within your application. If you cannot get in on points and you have a family member there, you can look into sponsorship.
Good Luck!! |

I'm looking into immigrating to Halifax, it's a very long prosess and it's giving me a few headaches. However it's a beautiful country and the west coast is an ideal start for you and your family. |

Go to Canada House and get your information from the Horse's mouth. Plan to go direct to Vancouver, British Columbia - the climate is mild and the Salmon is great. |
