While I'm not a fan of Bush (and I'm even a Republican), I want to know who you think the Bush administration is persecuting? If you're talking about those scum bags that joined the military for the money and took off when their country needed them the most; then no, I don’t believe they have received political asylum and they shouldn't. Back when I swore in to the army, I gave my allegiance to my country and swore that I would obey the orders of the President of the United States whether I believed in the mission or not. There is a lot of stupid s.h.i.t that you have to do in the military but you do it because you love your country. As far as I'm concerned, America is better off without them here. I don't want people in my country that run like b.i.t.c.h.e.s when times get hard. America isn't perfect, but it sure as hell beats the alternative.

Only laughable, pathetic morons. Who are probably majorly regretting their decision when they realize that America wasnt as bad as the thought. |

Only freeloaders who decided to join the military for a free handout and university education and after being told they are gonna be deployed have tried to come over here with a sob story. Absolutely disgusting, you owe the tab pay up, don't become our problem trying to live off welfare and free healthcare we have enough of our own doing that. |

They'd have a tough time proving their need for asylum. Under the current UN Convention for Refugees (which hasn't changed since it was created in the early 50s), a person would have to prove that they, personally, are under threat of persecution for religious/political/racial reasons.
Simply not agreeing with the government in power is not reason enough to get asylum. Some people might have tried, but probably with no luck. |

you need to look up the term "political asylum."
anyone is free to move to canada if they want to--for any reason. |

I think that they just chose to immigrate to Canada instead of applying for political asylum. |

They actually have a waiting list for all Americans wanting to live in Canada. When Bush first took over they were swamped with requests from American people who wanted out. More so after the start of Bushes second term.
America is still the best place to live with or without Bush It is up to her people to change if they don't like what's going on.
Seems there are a lot of them who want to hit the road. |

Why run away, when people could be fighting back? |

That matter has long ago been dealt with by Canadian immigration authorities, who have concluded it's not good enough of a reason. |
