I've been to Ontario many times (I'm from Ohio) and absolutely love it. Point Pelee is a wonderful place to bird during spring and fall migration (ie warblers), and the whole province is great in the winter (ie northern gulls, owls, ducks we don't get down in Ohio). We also go there to gamble. Someday I'll take a French class so I can pronounce the places <grin>. I took Spanish and Latin in High School, which hardly ever comes in handy there... <laughs>. I also really like the talk radio station out of Windsor (AM 760)! Of course, probably every place has its ups and downs; I haven't found any downs about Ontario-- except maybe trying to get back into the States! |

I had the pleasure of visiting a good friend of mine that lives downtown Toronto a month ago. I am used to warm weather, so the almost 80-90 F during the start of the summer was ok to me, not to my canadian friend.
I fell in love with the city, and I can say I was there for only 5 days. That is how long it took me. We drove north, and south of toronto on 2 separate days, and the scennery was just breath taking. The areas called Muskoka (north of toronto) and Oakville to the south were amazing.
I was extremely pleased with the hospitality and friendliness of the people. They were recently rated among the top 10 courteous cities in the world. The canadian side of the Niagara falls is a MUST too! |

I agree with Linda Lou - northern Ontario = Flies and Mosquitos. It boggles my mind that anyone would want to live anywhere in Ontario when there are so many more beautiful places in Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunwick, Quebec, and British Columbia. |

i go lots to toronto mostly but have travelled around to,and have found it a great place to visit....
we have lots of family and friends there so makes the visit all the more worthy, the people are great and always so freindly especially when they find out that we are scottish and seem to go out there way to help us have a even better time.
i usually go a few times a year and have planned my next visit for the fall.
so cant wait to do it all again!!!!! |

I live in Southwestern Ontario and was in North Bay at Canada Day.
All I can say is ugh...shad flies...disgusting!
Don't go there the last week of June through the first couple weeks of July. No one should have to experience the shad flies. They are like the plague. They don't bite (I've been told they don't have mouths or digestive systems), but they hatch and the fish in Lake Nippissing feed off them. They are long, black and have a wingspan of about 1-2" and they are EVERYWHERE! They are on every wall, door, window, every business sign, all over all the buildings and on the ground. You crunch them everywhere you walk! It is GROSS!
Other than that, Northern Ontario is beautiful! |

I live in southern Ontario but grew up in North Bay so, when I have a chance, I like to go back north to see friends. Northern Ontario has always been very friendly, laid back and a great place to get back in touch with nature. I have always seen lots of wildlife up there (mooses, deer, black bears) and I have lots of pictures to go along with it. For anyone who has never made a visit up north, I'd recommend it. |
