Have you ever visited Montreal, Canada?

If you have how did you find it. Is the weather good, are the people nice, and is the underground city nice?

Yes! I currently live in Montreal, where I attend McGill University. Montreal is an awesome city, a blend of cultures, a blend of languages (French and English), a fashionable, hip city with lots going on.

The weather right now is so-so. We're over the worst of the winter and now it's around 4 degrees Celcius and sunny.

People are generally nice. For example, people hold the door open for you even if you're 10 seconds away from the door.

The underground city is cool, especially during the winter when you don't want to keep bundling up to go outside. It's basically a series of large shopping malls and metro stations that are all connected undeground by tunnels. There are countless shops and restaurants down there and I'm sure you could spend days without surfacing.

There's also lots of other cool places in Montreal. My favorite streets to walk around on in Spring/Summer/Fall are St. Laurent and St. Denis. They both have really posh, unique stores and great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and culbs. Ste. Catherine Street is also cool. That's where the famous Club Super Sexe is!

Definitely worth a visit!

I was there just last week. Old Montreal was nice. The underground wasn't anything really special. The people were friendly. The one thing that disappointed me was that it was a very dirty city. There was trash and piles of cigarette butts everywhere. I visited Toronto last year and found it much nicer.

Yes, many years ago.

I liked it so much that I did consider moving there.

Mind you, it was in the summer!

Gotta love Montreal. That City is the best & want to look for employment. Culture, Tourism, and the people are different and there are tons of things to do.

I recommend you go for the summer and enjoy the sights & sounds of Montreal. I rather live in Montreal than in Ottawa.

Ottawa sucks and there's nothing to do. Ottawa is a quite city and their isn't much to do.

Yes, lived there for almost 2 years. Its ok, nothing special. Old Montreal is very nice but expect to spend alot of money. Very dirty city and run down in areas. Poor highway infrastructure and rude drivers. People are stand-offish and very rude si vous ne parlez pas la langue.

If your looking for a good Canadian city, I just visited Calgary and its good lots of running/biking trails, Rockies are nearby, friendly people, very can-do attitude unlike Montreal where there is a welfare state attitude, lots of fun things to do (kayaking in the mtns, hiking through Banff). Go to International Blvd for great food or steak houses galore.

Quebec City is also a better bet than Montreal if you insist on going to Quebec. Most people there are separistists but its very friendly, good sites to see and more "old country" than Montreal pretends to be.

Bonne chance

Yep its great, melting pot of cultures, music, and food etc. Only been in summer and there was loads of festivals, jazz, fireworks display competition from countries all over the world, open air cinema as well as local fiesta in the italian district. People really friendly but I mostly spoke french with them, not sure how they are with Anglophones. Brilliant shops, underground shopping/cinema malls I could get lost in!! Have fun you will love it. if you have time go to Quebec city to experience a bit of their history too...
