I live in Canada and yes you can get across the border with out a passport just make sure he has his drivers license they accept anything with photo ID.
Now if you don't get across the border you can see the falls from the US side (( altho they are not as pretty as the Canadian side))
if you want you can go to this site www.niagarafalls.ca it has links and info about everything to do, see and eat in the falls.. Hope you enjoy your time there.. |

I am not sure about the Passport but when you got at night there might not be people there so it's more easier. Also at night is the best time to go because the water changes colors & it's really beautiful!!! |

I think all you really need is a valid ID that states where you're from and maybe your birth certificate. I know that the borders are cracking down since 911, but I don't think a passport is needed to enter between USA/Canada. |

No passports needed, although the Bush administration is pushing to have them mandatory by Dec next year.
You can view the Falls from either side of the border, Canadian side is more built up then the US side but they offer some attractions over there.
CDN side has a plethora of things to do, all different vantage points of the falls....google Niagara Parks Commission and it will give you info about what they offer....definetaly do the Maid of the Mist....nothing gets better than that.
We have wineries....very good ones too!!
Hiking, dancing, wax museums, casinos, all kinds of things to do here. Checl out some of my past answers that are very detailed.
What ever you do have fun :) |

If you have not already made your reservations for a hotel, I'd stay at the Sheridan on the Canadian side. It overlooks the falls. It's a great location. Have a great time. Niagara Falls is neat and there's plenty to do there. |
