No passports needed, although the Bush administration is pushing to have them mandatory by Dec next year.
You can view the Falls from either side of the border, Canadian side is more built up then the US side but they offer some attractions over there.
CDN side has a plethora of things to do, all different vantage points of the falls....google Niagara Parks Commission and it will give you info about what they offer....definetaly do the Maid of the Mist....nothing gets better than that.
We have wineries....very good ones too!!
Hiking, dancing, wax museums, casinos, all kinds of things to do here. Check out some of my past answers that are very detailed.
What ever you do have fun :) |

It's in a town called Niagra On The Lake, Ontario. It's near a place called St. Catherins. That's just across the border from Buffalo. The Canadian falls are the best but if you don't want to be pained by the border then to the American falls is about 7 hours from New York and extra hour or so I'd say for the better falls (Canadian.) |

Niagara Falls is on the US/Canada border. Niagara Falls, NY - just follow the Thruway and it dumps you right towards the falls area.
If you're a Canadian/US citizen, you don't need a passport to go back and forth.
The more interesting stuff is on the Canadian side - better view, the Maid of the Mist boats, the Skylon Tower, the walkway down the falls and the larger gift shops. You can use both US and Canadian funds in the whole area - everything will be cheaper if you pay in US funds.
Good luck & have fun!! |

Niagara Falls is between New York and Canada. No passport is necessary, but have proof of US citizenship if you intend to visit the Canadian side.
The Canadian side is much more spectacular. By all means be sure to cross over.
There are walks in tunnels carved out of the stone behind the falls, with openings to view the back side of the water, be sure to use the tunnels, you'll enjoy it.
You can take a pay tour ride to many of the attractions. It's worth the price of the tickets. Good luck, have fun. |

LOL Niagara Falls spans both Canada and the United States. I live on the Canadian side - I was there in October. I don't think you need a passport - yet - but with all the security changes you may soon. Your husband may be wanting to take you to this side of the border. It's a beautiful place, you will never forget it, although some of it's a bit like Las Vegas with all the lights and stuff. Other parts are quite and peaceful and the falls themselves are amazing. And last time I checked, the other half of the falls WAS in New York!
Have a great trip. |

Ok, Niagara Falls is partly in NY state and partly in Ontario, Canada. If you are staying on the NY side and not crossing the border you won't need a passport. However, the rules for crossing the border are changing so, if you have a passport, bring it! If you don't, just have your driver's licence with you so you have photo ID. Within the next 2 months (at the most), you will need a passport to cross the border so figure that in when you're planning your trip. |
