Well, we dont have a lot of the stores that you have, Target, JC Penny, or any of the big upper scale dept stores, although of course we have our own versions, and of course WalMart is here, and Gap, LOL.
Our holidays? We celebrate Thanksgiving earlier than you, we do Remembrance Day on November 11th, Canada Day instead of Independance Day; you have a lot of hoildays that we dont celebrate here, oh, and Canada Day is never HUGE like 4th of July seems to be, although Canadians ARE very proud to be Canadian.
Religion is very multicultural, and of course varies from area to area, though it seems that its maybe not as popular or maybe I mean as public as it is in the States....I dont mean that in a bad way at all, I just dont know how to explain it....
Canadas styles and trends and issues are very much influenced by the US, and we are always up on the news and events there, I think. |

Canada is very multi cultural and multi religious, something we embrace not ridicule like the USA. As for stores we are home to the worlds oldest store (Hudsons Bay) which owns the Bay and Zellers (like target) we have US imports such as Sears and Walmart. Radio Shack is called The Circuit up here, we have Future Shop and BestBuy (both owned by Bestbuy US). Our Holidays are:
Victoria Day (Queens Birthday)
Canada Day (National Birthday)
Civic Holiday (varies province to province)
Thanksgiving ( October)
We also celebrate the usual xmas, labour day and other secular holidays.
Some little known facts
We invented basketball, hockey, garbage backs, electric streetcars, 5pin bowling, heart pace makers, instant potatoes, IMAX, insulin, JAVA, telephone, tv camera, walkie talkies and the zipper to name a few.
Overall the main difference is we are proud but humble, we are thoughtful, polite and intelligent. |

Canadians are just like Americans...
only more polite.
(and we are all addicted to Tim Hortons coffee)
Thanks for asking eh. |

I think that we are more tolerant of others, instead of trying to be the same, we march to our own drums. Possibly, beyond the cities, we are more individual. Diversity of religion, there doesn't seem to be as much emphasis on showing your faith. Traditions are based on Cultural backgrounds, although Hockey is our game. |

To some extent, going to Canada is a bit like going back in time and visiting America in the 1950s. I mean that in a good way. For example, there are beautiful vibrant small towns that are well kept where you don't find chain stores etc. around but rather local places. The downtown cities are vibrant and generally safe. The roads are smaller and generally less crowded. Toronto is an exception to much of what I said, but is still very Canadian. Montreal and Toronto have awful traffic. Quebec is very different with the French culture and language. PEI is like going back to the 19th century. You cannot even buy a can of pop on the island. Yukon and NWT are much like Alaska whereas Manitoba is much like the Dakotas with a lot of rape seed grown. I love visiting Canada. I'm from Ohio. |

i think more or less were the same (i hate to admit it)
we like hockey, beer.. and are friendly and polite to people for the most part..
i think where we differ is we dont' mix relgion and politcs as much as the states.. were not blindly patriotic.. and were more open and excepting of different cultures and races i think :) |

Canada has intelligence and culture, and doesn't habitually drop bombs on people it doesn't like. |

Canadians love their southern cousins so much that they like to imitate them. So, actually, there is not much difference between them.
As they say"imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"!!! |
