Hi,I live in USA and I need to know how to Visit Canada with out passport or birth certificate if possible?

I've applied for my birth certificate from the state I was born in but it's going to take too long. Then when I get it it's going to take even longer to get my passport. Until I get through all of the red tape, is there a way to visit Calgary AB from the US.

You definitely need a birth certificate to cross the border in addition to a photo ID. How about trying a service like one of these:

http://www.usbirthcertificate.com/index.html
http://www.usbirthcertificatebureau.com/

It might be more expensive, but you can get one quicker.

You may be able to cross with a photo ID and one other piece of ID. The most important document that is required is proof of citizenship.

"When you enter Canada, a customs officer may ask to see your passport and a valid visa, if one is necessary. If you are a citizen of the United States, you do not need a passport to enter Canada. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or naturalization, as well as a photo ID. If you are a permanent resident of the U.S, you should bring your Permanent Resident Card (i.e., green card) with you."

You will also need proof of citizenship to return to the US. Crossing the US/Canadian border is becoming much stricter than it used to be.

I hope this helps.

Magick_is_you!
you have to have two pieces of ID...with pictures...you have a state ID? a drivers?...you should be fine with those two....if you have any kind of criminal record...don't bother trying...they are getting really sticky about things like that...

Assuming you got into Canada, how do you think you would re-enter the US with no proof of citizenship? George W. is tightening the regulations and making it more and more important for people to have proper credentials. It doesnt matter if you 'say' that you are American, you have to be able to prove it. And without documentation, that's pretty darn hard to do.
Of course, that means you would just have to stay in Canada, and that could be a pretty good ending to the story!

You don't need a passport, yet. (Which, BTW, when that law is passed, will be because of Americans being paranoid, and forcing Canadians to have a passport; we'll just follow along) Except if you're taking a plane, I think they're even more strict on people flying in than driving in.

However, you do need a birth certificate. Without it, you won't get through. I don't think any other kind of ID will do it. Birth certificate, or passport.

With all the false accusations of Canada letting terrorists cross the border back and forth, can you really blame us for tightening our rules to prove your government wrong?

gemthewitch
Nope - without proof of your US citizenship (either a birth certificate or passport), you are 100% Out Of Luck getting across the border legally.

I just went through to canada a few weeks ago. they have definitely tightened the border security. if you are carrying children under 18, you may want to bring their birth certificates. sometimes they let you through without a problem, or times they question you even further. they told my family that a driver's license proves absolutely nothing to them, so be careful. If you have a license plate from a state far from the border you are entering into, they may become suspicious. You might want to bring a proper form of ID just in case. You shouldn't need a passport. Most of the time they are pretty easy on you, just eb careful.

Legally, nope, not gonna happen...

nyyankeesg1rl
they have made it much much harder to get through with only photo ID. 90% of the time they won't let you in without a passport

jasonjas
Go and ask an illegal Mexican how they got across. They can be of good help.
