How Safe in Finch W & Islington?

I heard Finch and Jane is very bad area to live in. I am planning to rent a place at Islington and Finch West in Toronto for a few months. How safe is this area?

I live at Finch/Kipling, also lived in small towns, and other places...I grew up in Finch/Kipling...so it's understandable that I am not to scared of it....really it's not that bad...it's like any other place, you mind your own business and people mind their own...

There are some kids who act tough, but mostly they're just punks and won't do s h i t.....unless there's like 10 of them...then you might want to watch out...but seriously, it's not that bad...

Not so safe. Try to avoid it if you can.

Of course, the rent's gonna be pretty cheap in that area, but for a few hundred dollars, maybe it would be a better idea to rent in a much safer location.

I don't know what your budget is. But I'll go ahead and make a recommendation. There are 2 rental buildings right in front of the Dundas West Subway Station (Dundas Street West / Bloor Street West). The complex is called 'Crossways'. Although its pretty close to downtown Toronto, the rent's not too, too high. Its very reasonable. And you get pretty decent accomodation + services for what you pay. Everything is included in the rent. You don't have to pay any additional utility costs. Also, if you are relying on the public transport (TTC) to get around in Toronto, its THE BEST place to stay. Right in front of the subway station.

Hope that's of some help.
