How Young Is Too Young?

My fiance and I are expecting our first child sometime in the next 3 weeks (due June 30th) and would like to take a weekend camping/shopping trip in August or September before the campgrounds close for the season. Our child will be roughly 8-10 weeks old and we're wondering if that is too young to go camping?
Additional Details
We will be camping at a campground...a semi serviced site with water and electricity...not out in the woods somewhere peeing in bushes...

Its absolutely too young. An 8-10 week old does not have enough of an immune system built up to be out going to Wal-mart, much less camping. If I were you, I would wait until the baby is at least 6-8 months old before camping. If you are bottle feeding you'd have no way to make bottles, and also depending on where you live, it can be too cold at night for the baby. Babies that young don't have the ability to regulate their body temperatures, and that puts the baby at risk for getting sick. Not only that but bugs are a factor too. They carry diseases and you don't want your newborn getting bit by ticks or mosquitos.

Definitely wait if you can or have a family member watch the baby if you do decide you can't wait to go camping.

Congratulations on the new addition to the family!

I Hate to sound like a jerk on this, but you may want to consider your fellow campers on this one. People go camping to relax and get away from stress, and an 8 to 10 week old new born possibly crying at all hours of the night really isn't getting away or relaxing in my opinion. Again, I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm just letting you know that you may be greeted with some hostility from your camping neighbors.

Anyways, congrats on your child, by the way. :o)

Yes, an 8-10 week old baby gets sick very very easy, the smallest thing can make it miserable,i have three month old sons and i wont let anyone even touch them without washing there hands first, so yes i think that is to young to go camping. At 8-10 weeks old their amune systems arent very strong at all.

No, it is NOT too young to go camping. Get a good PORTABLE crib and take extra blankets, take a good sized metal or plastic tub for the baby to have it's daily bath in (you can use the tub as a cooler when it's not being a bathtub) ... and BE SURE to have plenty of changes of clothes (three outfits per day x days you'll be camping + one extra) and take TONS of diapers ... and be sure that when you leave, you CARRY OUT everything you carried in, even the garbage, and dispose of it properly once you are back in a town.

I think it might be a little too young.
he/she could get stung by a bug or something, I don,t know about you but if it were me I wouldn't take that risk.

Man
If you go tent camping, it may be a huge pain to look after a baby if you plan to do a lot of stuff.

Don't worry about it, you will change your mind within a few days of the baby being born, guaranteed LOL

Yes i think thats a little to young to go camping

Amy Lynn
yes. you dont want the baby to get sick or anything like that.

Me
if you are going to be staying in a cabin then i think it would be ok, but if you are going to be staying in a tent then i dont recommend that you take a baby with you.

a baby that young can get sick very easily, and they can also cry ALOT so think about the rest of the people on your campground and be prepared to get a few complaints. if you DO decide to take the baby with you then you cant leave anything to chance. think of the worst possible situation and bring whatever you would need to fix that situation. like bringing a massive amount of diapers, baby clothes, bottles/formula/breast pump, blankets, toys/binkies/something to entertain the baby when its being rowdy. good luck.

Yes, way too young, I would wait until the child is at least a year old.
