Actually a lot of the shootings that make the news are not all in Vancouver,Surrey,Richmond,Abbotsford have experienced shootings.For the most part it is quite peaceful here.

my first impression is unfortunately bad. Vancouver has some nice sites but it is overshadowed by scary street people.

The gang problem in Vancouver is bad right now but we are hearing more about it because of the publicity and because Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Olympics. Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal are having problems with gangs as well but because there are no international events about to happen there, Vancouver is getting all the publicity and because none of the aforementioned cities are being mentioned this is somewhat jaded reporting.
Another problem in Vancouver is the fact that these gang members are being granted bale and allowed back on the streets. The judicial system out here needs an overhaul.
