How can I go from vancouver,bc to victoria, bc? |
I'm planning to visit vancouver, bc next week and victoria as well. I've booked a hotel in downtown vancouver and I"m wondering how to go to victoria from downtown vancouver? I've read some forums saying that it's easier to go by bus than a car.
Any suggestion? How can I go to the ferry station in vancouver? Can I leave my car at the ferry station and ride a ferry? How about from victoria's ferry station to downtown victoria? Thanks Additional Details How do I get to downtown Victoria from victoria's ferry terminal? |

You can take public transit from downtown Vancouver to the ferry terminal in Tsawwassen, and same from there to downtown Victoria. Cheap but relatively time consuming, and you may have to figure out schedules.
You can take a Pacific Coach Lines bus from Vancouver to Victoria. Get on the bus in Vancouver, it drives onto the ferry, you get off the bus for the ferry ride, get back on it and it takes you into downtown Victoria. Pretty cheap, pretty convenient, and the bus ALWAYS gets on to the ferry no matter how busy it is that day. If you're only wanting to see downtown Victoria, that's probably the best option.
You can drive your car onto the ferry and then into Victoria, that's the simplest unless there are huge lineups that day, but it's the most expensive, about $120 round trip for the ferry. You can reserve ahead on the ferry but it will cost extra. Or you can leave your car at Tsawwassen in pay parking. Allow time to get from the parking lot to the boat. Once you are on the boat, you can buy a ticket on the Pacific Coach Lines bus by seeing the driver who is at a desk on the ferry for the first half hour or so.
They'll be able to help you with this at your hotel, too. |

you will need to hop on a ferry of course! you can bus or drive to the ferry terminal. I'm pretty sure you can leave your car there, however i think you will have to pay for parking. |

It is easier and cheaper to take the bus from Vancouver to Victoria. The bus company is Pacific Coach Lines and goes from downtown Vancouver right into downtown Victoria. The bus actually goes on the ferry so it is very convenient. If you wanted to drive the ferry terminal is south of Vancouver in the town of Tsawwassen. There is parking available at the terminal and when you arrive in Victoria (Swartz Bay) there are buses to take foot passengers into Victoria. Hope you have a good trip. |

Well the ferries are an option, as always. Directions to them are pretty easy to get on googlemaps and I find the roads are pretty clearly marked - there are loads of signs pointing that direction.
The public buses are pretty easy too. You may have to make a few connections though. I did last time I was in Vancouver.
If you want to drive there you can leave your car at the terminal. It's just a big parking lot - they do charge though. Or, if you want, you can drive on the ferry. I think there are greyhound or something that go across as well, but I've never personally used them.
The ferry is about a 30 minute drive from downtown victoria. You're on the Pat-Bay highway. Keep driving. It's a long way into town, but eventually you'll hit MacKenzie avenue - after about 20 minutes I'd guess. Travel across to the Trans Canada highway. From there it's straight downtown. There are buses you can catch from the ferry terminal to downtown Victoria.
Or, alternatively, you can fly. There are both float planes that arrive directly into the harbour. Or there are flights that leave from Vancouver that go into Victoria international. |
