Okay, New York state borders with Canada. So how much colder do you honestly think it is!!!
We're not freaking eskimos!!!
It has been in the mid-30's that'd be high 90's for at least half of the summer. Right now it's 62 degrees in Waterloo which is 9 hours west of you! |

Well this morning I woke up in my house in Windsor (which happens to be south of Detroit), scraped the ice off the INSIDE of my windows, grabbed my trust six shooter and stepped outside to shoot the polar bears digging through my garbage, and fired up my skidoo. While gliding over the frozen wasteland I was chased by a wooly mammoth and two grizzly bears, but I warded them off by giving them all a beer. When I got to work (making plastic Mounties) I found that no one had melted the snow to make tea, so I had to do it myself. Once my work day was finished, I skidooed back home, harnessed up the sled dogs, and braved the frozen wilderness to watch the northern lights from Point Pelee (same latitude as northern California). |

Right now, at 1:47 a:m it's 62 degrees outside. Our winter months can be pretty cold and the dampness makes it worse. But I like it, and I dress for it. You are right, we are pretty lucky. Thanks for asking you, from New York, closing here from Canada, Ontario province. :-) |

Saskatchewan, in the middle of Canada, the temperature can get as cold as minus 40 degrees celsius, if not colder (usually February). The good thing is, it's a dry cold so you can compare it to somewhere (Toronto or anyplace where there is lots of water) where the cold is damp/wet...say minus 25 degrees celsius. As for warm weather...plus 40 degrees celsius on the prairies
In Winnipeg, Manitobia at the corner of Portage and Main is the coldest place in Canada (excluding the three territories). |

New York State is just about the same as it is in Ontario. Canada. Our temp is the same as the states that are next to the border more or less. Not snow all year round so there!!! |

I can just say lucky you for living in N.Y. I live in North Western Ontario and I am so sick of winter. It hasn't been so bad in the last few years....but it can, on occasion, get awful. I remember getting sent home from work one day when it was perfectly nice out...to find out half way home on the bus that we might not make it the last couple of miles...the storm hit fast and hard. Made it home....but we were stranded there for the next 4 days...the snow was over the roofs of the cars!!! (Women were having their baby's at home, as ambulances couldn't get there). Talk about boredom. We walked, crawled, slid...5 blocks to get to our friends house to have a night out. It was really awful. But back to the present...it hasn't been that bad...but its a long, long, cold, boring winter...and always seems like spring will never get here.Winter can go for 6 months..November till April. I wouldn't live here by choice. ( And the heating bills suck) |

Well, in the winter it can get quite cold where I live in Northern Ontario, usually it is -25C on a regular basis with temperatures often dropping below -45C this is all with no wind chill, with a windchill it gets down to -60C every once in a while.
Right at this moment though in August, it is night and the temperature is 10C right outside my window. Earlier today it was about 23C. |

Well it depends where in Canada you are talking about. In Toronto we have a great summer and the winter months are pretty cold. It's not just the cold but the cold wind as well. In the months of Jan and Feb are the coldest months of the year. From my experience, In the winter months Toronto is around 10 to 15 degress colder than New York. What do u expect. We here in Toronto are further North. It takes around 9hr drive from Toronto to New York. |
