I feel for you man, I used to live in stoon and there isnt anything to do their but drink. As soon as I could I moved to one of the Big three. I have lived in both Vancouver and Toronto and prefer Toronto because it suites my lifestyle. There is something here for everyone. I have lived here for 5 years and still discover news things everyday. I knew Saskatoon in a out within a week.
Save your money and MOVE to one of the big three. Saskatoon is not going to be a fun city for at least a couple of decades. And don't do the Alberta thing unless you are going to make money, you will be disappointed as there isnt much more to do there than stoon. Hope you find what you are looking for.
O and don't listen to Foray, he's a chump. |

you sound spoiled to me - if you really want to leave saskatoon then get on a bus, walk or just go - you're not chained to the city. |

You are 18, and in the second year in a University course ?
You graduated high school at age 16 ? Pardon me if I don't believe you.........
Does your Mum know that you are using her computer ?
Feel free to leave any time that you can raise the money to do so.

If you have family still living at your place of birth, move in with them and finish your education. |

you need money for that unfortunately.... unless you got a big stash, you probably are gonna have to work for a few years after university then look for opportunities elsewhere |

Once you get your degree, go to Japan on the JET Programme. Living in Saskatoon will be a total advantage as there will be almost no competition. If you were applying for JET in Toronto, you'd have maybe a 1/10 chance of getting in, but in Saskatoon probably all you have to do is apply.
Go to your university career centre and look for an application. Better yet, Google it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You will be flown on the tab of the Japanese government to Tokyo, set up with a Canadian in one of the most swank hotels in the country for a couple days, then transported to some city or town where you'll be teaching English. Tons of people will be behind you, making sure everything's going well. You'll be paid well.
If teaching isn't your cup of tea, then you can apply to be a Co-ordinator of International Relations. Not many people get that position, but there are a few available. You just help set up "international" events, maybe write a letter to the town's sister city in Canada, etc.
A lot of people spend all their savings on getting a little foreign experience. In this case, YOU get paid, and well. Plus you have the opportunity to renew. The standard contract is 1 year, but you can probably stay 3 or 4 years.
Good luck! |
