I am planning on going to Canada and staying for 6 months. I've heard that you get a 6 months stamp n your passport which allows you to stay for 6 months.
I'm from Alberta... took a trip all week. Went through the Trans-Canada all the way to Kelowna. Turned around, went to REvelstoke and then South through the Slocan Valley.. through Nakusp. Then went to Rossland and Trail.. then back through to Nelson, and then down to Creston and through the Crowsnest back to Alberta... it was lots of driving... it was amazing though, I really loved it... especially the Slocan Valley and Nelson... just beautiful.
BUT, I find it soo funny that the motto on the sign welcoming you into BC is "The Best Place on Earth". I mean it's beautiful yeah... the taxes really suck... I mean I dunno if it really is the best place on earth. It was certaintly worth a good laugh though. Additional Details haha I'm not knocking it. I love BC.. I just think it's funny that's all.
When did that become the BC motto I thought it was Beautiful British Columbia like the licence plates has been for 40 years

What would you expect them to say. "the second best place on earth"? "We really like it here but you might not"? Come on, every province will have a catchy tourist slogan. Ontario's is "Yours to discover". Aberta has one too "Wish you were here". Do you really?: Or do you just want the tourist $$$$.
PS: If BC aint the best place on earth, it's pretty darned close.

It's just a slogan ... I didn't think much of it until you posted the question. The British Columbians are clearly proud of their province -- and they should be. It really is a beautiful place. Is it the best place on earth? It would be impossible for any place to be the best -- it all depends on who you ask. Some like mountains, others like prairies; some like country music, others like rap ... it's impossible for one thing to be the 'best' to all people.

People of BC have a huge ego. I mean have you people who think BC is the best place on earth even been anywhere else on the planet??? If BC were the best place on earth I think more people would live there. I have lived their and can honestly its not the best, but the people love to tell themselves that to make themselves feel good about where they live, while they constantly cut down Albertans and Ontarians. Kinda reminds me of a friend I used to have who thought whatever he had was the best no matter what, he once told me he thought his Honda Civic was better than a Porsche, and he truly believed himself.
