How does a American citizen seek asylum in Canada?

I am looking to seek Asylum in Canada, I want nothing more to do with USA. How would I go about it, and how long does it take? Any answers at all would be deeply appreciated !

Thank you!
Additional Details
I am afraid now to be in USA. They do not take people claiming asylum? I would do whatever it takes, I don't have very much job experience. What now?

Your question made me laugh. Asylum is for those from war torn countries or those who will face human rights violations.

The US is not like that now with Obama and will be getting better.

Earl s
they won't take you for that reason. You need a job skill to support yourself & contribute to their economy. I don't mean a McJob.

What now ? Oh that what now. What are you afraid of ? if you are afraid of Obama Canada is worse than he is.

Jim B
Canada does not accept asylum claims from Americans. Period .

Jim B. Toronto.

tuppenybitz
to claim asylum you must be from a country where your life is in immediate danger if you stay

sorry the US doesn't qualify

Kennie065
People seeking asylum here are generally running for their lives. For example, children fleeing a civil war in places such as Sierra Leone. Do you really think that your situation is anywhere nearly as serious ??

Personally, I find that a little hard to believe.

MasterPython
Even army deserters get sent home. You have no chance.

jake.jakobson
u can't and u don't have any realistic chance of coming to Canada, sorry

what are you actually afraid of in USA?
You might have a point ,but just you may need more clarification on your concern.otherwise it doesn't make sense.
just relax. US is much safer now. instead pray God for US and Israel.
Security, confort come from God. Pray for peace of mind. Jesus Christ died for you.and can still get EVERYTHING, if ONLY you have FAITH.
