Who starts these stupid rumours? Canada is not a bunch of seal-clubbing idiots. That is what happens when your only source of information is the media. I suppose April's comment points out one of the bigger differences between Canada and the US -- we would simply reply to such an inane comment by proving that it's not true. We would not, instead, say hateful and untrue things in return about your country -- even if there is plenty to say. Why? Because it would be impolite and immature. Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to what would happen if someone posted an equally untrue and defamatory comment about the USA?
Canada is a wonderful place to live. Just like any country, it has both good sides and bad sides. Overall, I would say there is alot more good than bad.
Someone started a rumour a long time ago that Canadians were polite. Alot of us are extra polite because we wouldn't want to harm Canada's good reputation. And some are just polite because life is better when you are happy.
Generally speaking, Canadians do not live in fear all the time. I do not worry that I will get sick (since my health care will take care of me). We do not worry that a terrorist is lurking around every corner, nor do we treat people like terrorists because of the colour of their skin. We generally like to help each other. I am not saying that there are not racist, impolite, or unhelpful people AT ALL -- those people will exist everywhere. I am just saying that, in general, Canadians tend to be more open-minded about other cultures and ways of life. Some people don't like that, and that is fine. I think all Canadians would agree that we do not like when people from other countries bring their hatred into Canada. Life is just more pleasant when everyone is nice! Try it, you'll like it! |

I honestly cannot believe the comment I just read. Do you even know what Canada is like? Who are you, Pamela Anderson? That is absolutely the most untrue comment I have ever heard.
Canada is excellent. Its multi-cultural, multi-lingual and we make a great effort at intergrating people from other countries. If I were you I would look at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I go there, we have an excellent mix of students, there are so many students from all over the world here. I have friends from every corner of the globe.
Don't listen to people who say irrelevant things that have been made up by the media and little miss Heather Mills and Pamela Anderson. They are just celebrities who don't know their heads from their *** and are more concerned with shooting their mouths off over things they absolutely know NOTHING about. |

Canada is great. There is a lot of wilderness. If u go in the winter i would suggest skiing/snowboarding/snowmobiling
and in the summer fishing is a great thing. |

It might be more expensive to live here, if you are American, as we pay more in taxes, and everything is a little more expensive because we have less people to serve and so its the whole buy in bulk thing, gas is also expensive, $1.40 a liter. In order to get into Canada, it might help if you have a high paying job, or are going to get post-secondary education, if you know someone in Canada. As for April seal clubbing does happen here but its necessary for some fisherman to protect their fish. But in America people have been known to club other people in an act known as assault with a deadly weapon, or murder, or rape. Yeah so seeing as you aren't a seal and an actual human being its a little more safe for you in Canada than America.
Canada has been a country since 1867, Canada is a place kind of like of America but not everyone in the world hates us. Canada has great post secondary education where good marks and proper finance can get you in not like in America where a stupid blond girl who wants to play doctor can if her daddy donates half a mil to the university's library. Canada is like America but only we have better beer, nicer people, better food, more freedom to people(except for the whole "walk into a gun store walk out with an automatic weapon 15 minutes later" thing), the only thing that is the same here is the politicians, but at least the government is elected differently and we have more than 2 parties. If you are looking for religious freedom or freedom to be a certain skin pigment and not be considered a terrorist, then Canada is for you, when you come here you can keep your heritage and religion.
And the only thing about our medical systems, its quite a wait in the emergency rooms, but its free so you get what you pay for.
So if you are planning to come to Canada we will welcome you with open arms and possibly some warm pancakes with Canadian maple syrup on it. But yeah go ahead come to Canada, the land of the truly free, not the land of people who live in igloos, say "aboot", have a pet beaver, or know sally and bob from canada, but I'm sure they are really nice.
Sorry, I know that I beat up on Americans, but seriously they are known to be asking these questions like where can I take my kids to see penguins in their natural environment? Usually I tell them to take penguin highway, but some think I'm kidding, other ask me how to get to penguin highway from the 401. I can't believe they don't know that penguins only live on the south pole. Many of us have been mocked by Americans when they say that we say "aboot" when we don't, or ever have, if you know how that rumor started I'd like to know because its very untrue, and I'd like to talk with them about, and say sorry just in case I hurt they're feelings. |

well, for what you need....you should go to your nearest canadian embassy, as for what its like?.....just like the u.s. but without the gun violence, murder, rape and if you get hurt here you get medical attention immediatly without the surgical wallet removal at the front door. good food, people, beer and country...what else is there? |

Honestly? We kill seals? where? I've never seen a seal get killed and I've been here my whole life. Enviromentalist **** like that is stupid thats like saying everyone in australia hunts kangaroos and surfs. DUH! Come to canada see PEI or New brunswick or Halifax....we rock! and we are much nicer people than wherever you come from. We might be a good impression on you lol....
If your looking for a good university try St-Marys in Halifax. Nice up-beat city but not too big like NYC or Las Vagas lol....great beer too! lol GO ALEXANDER KEITHS! |
