I think it's 2...and it must be less than 40% (or it must appear that way *wink* *wink*)...

Make sure it's NOT in your carry ons, as it will be confiscated, and do declare it.

When you cross the border - ask the agents. Usually it's 2. If you are flying they must be underneath - no liquid carry ons.
I recently returned from Montreal & they only asked us if we had anything to declare. I had some wine & they didn't care.

Assuming it is in your checked baggage and you've been gone for 48 hours, then a 40 of liquor, two bottles of wine or a case of beer.
