Mary Golde
You are allowed to bring in all of the following amounts of tobacco into Canada without paying duty:

200 cigarettes;
50 cigars or cigarillos;
200 grams (7 ounces) of manufactured tobacco; and
200 tobacco sticks.

one carton per person

(typical carton holding 10 packs)

kokopelli
Mary Golde is right -- one carton per person.

Anything over that and you will pay a hefty tax to customs. Cigarettes are expensive in Canada -- approx $80 CAD a carton. You may have difficulties finding your brand here as Canadian cigarettes are different than American or British cigarettes. Expect to pay approx $30+ in duties and taxes per extra carton (although it differs between provinces)

You can call Canadian Customs http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/menu-eng.html#t before going to Canada to find out exactly what the taxes would be -- make sure to tell them you are a non-resident and in which province you will be entering Canada. As long as you make sure to declare your extras you won't get in trouble . . .

between me and my dad it was a bottle each and 2 cartons of smokes. but we are canadian and returning to canda but we could do this once a week man did we have a good liquor cabinet.

evilgranny
I think you can only bring in 2 cartons with you per person entering the country but if you have a place to mail them to you can also mail 2 cartons into the country as well. Only you have to pay duty on anything you mail that is over $40

I guess you can bring 2 or more cigarettes but lesser than 5 or 6?

Joette Jade
