No maximum, you can work as many hours as you can stand or can get, in one or more jobs. In many jobs, there's a set number of hours that you get paid for; work more than that and you're supposed to get overtime pay though it sometimes doesn't happen. Depends on your employer, your position, contract if any, and general practice in the industry. You don't mean to tell me that people in the US never work more than 40 hours a week? I find that hard to believe. |

In Canada, if you work more then 40 hours a week in the same job, your employer is legally obligated to pay you overtime, so they generally try to limit your work week to 40 hours, which is typical, or less. However there is no legal limit to how many hours you can work, including overtime, in one or more jobs. |

There usually no maximum number of hours you can work per week as long as you're over 18. The length of the official workweek (before overtime) is:
40 hours in BC, SK, MB, QC, NL, YT, NT and NU
44 hours in AB, ON and NB
48 hours in PE and NS
However, even in places where the official workweek is longer than 40 hours, most employers will only offer the 40-hour workweek. People in Quebec tend to be lazier than their English-Canadian counterparts and such many Quebec employers have adpoted the 35-hour workweek. In Alberta many employers offer longer workweeks up to 60-75 hours. |

They can work as many hours as they wish. Some small business owners work 60, 70 or more hours a week. Yes, they can take a second or a third job if they so wish. There is no maximum number of working hours per work, nor is there a minimum. That's up to you, your boss, and whatever contract you agree on. |
