Colin
5.4 Million is projected from the last census

Cleo
Yeah, it's in the 5 million section, but it includes basically all the suburbs, so it doesn't seem that huge.

short shrimp
Rating
In Toronto proper, 2.6 million according to the census that just came out this week.

Go Blue
Rating
2.5 million inside the city boundaries (the lake, the rouge river, steeles, and the 427)

5 million roughly in the entire GTA(including Peel, Halton, York and Durham regions)

flightpillow
5 million =)

Capri
Rating
Around 6 Million in GTA if we talk about Toronto Only Apx 4 million(Includes Down town,East york, north york and Scarbrough)

Buffy
Right now, it is about 3,500,000. It is not overwhelming as Toronto is spread out over a large distance. It is very easy to get around except during morning and after drive. Take The QEW to the Gardner Expressway. Turn and drive up the longest street in the world, Yonge St.

FeatherHead
Rating
Under 3 million.

chrisgallo
I'll bet its around 6 million in all of the GTA with the illegals and uncounted.

Joseph
The city of Toronto has a population of 2.5 million (2001 Canada census). The population of the Toronto metropolitan area is projected to have a population of 5.4 million as of 2006.

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA), which is actually a provincial administration area that is different from a census metropolitan area, has a different prediction of the current population than the federal one. GTA states that the population of the Toronto metropolitan area is 5.9 million.
