All these answers are incorrect.
You can bring as MUCH AS YOU LIKE. You could bring hundreds of thousands of dollars. However you must DECLARE it to the Canadian Border Services Agency before leaving. Every international airport in Canada will have an office. Anything over $10,000 CDN (or equivalent) must be declared. All you will do is file a document under the Anti Terrorism Money Laundry Act. They won't seize anything if you declare it. Thats for export...

As for import. depends on what country your arriving to.

$10,000 cash on your person (I think???)

luis m
$9,999.00 or less than 10,000.00

The limit is $10,000 Canadian or equivalent in travelers cheques or securities.

If you want to transport more, you can do so legally but you'll have to declare it and pay tax on it.

depends on how much you can stuff down you pants

You should probably be using a bank and ATM card if you're going to be using more than $1000. Anymore than that is just so dangerous.
