I think you should be making 4,000 to 5,000 Dollars a month for a decent living in Toronto.Choose to live in the best location you can afford.Food costs vary much from store to store etc

I don't think 4 or 5K per month will lead to a decent living for a family of 4, yes you can survive, but not have a very very nice living

I would target to at least 7K, but really as I don't have a family I can't tell

4K for one person is enough I may say, u can have nice life and some luxuries

My daughter lives in Bloor West Village. I don't know exactly how much they make but I do know that their "take home" or net income is more than $5000 a month and they only do a little better than make ends meet and they have no kids. They have to have a vehicle and they have off street parking with their apartment at no extra cost. They do have two dogs and enjoy the life of living in Toronto, but they are not extravagant. My daughter has to pay for parking at her work which is an added expense. Their rent is $1200 a month for a two bedroom apartment, the main floor of an older brownstone in that area. Their apartment would certainly not be big enough for two kids. So I don't think that $4000 a month is enough for a family of 4 living in Toronto. I think you need more like at least $6000, and maybe $7000 to pay the bills, live comfortably and get the things the kids need. Best of luck.

If you are moving from abroard I'd suggest more than $4K as you won't have and credit history & are likely to get clobbered by mortgage rate, car insurance etc etc. Food is pretty pricey too, $10 per Lb for mature cheddar cheese for example and we live 2.5 hours from Toronto.

Umm, $4000 a month is not enough here in Barrie, if your job is gona pay that in toronto I strongly suggest you get your wife (if you have one) to find a second job & don't eat out in those expensive restaurants or start a second business income for tax purposes & xtre moolez, by the way- the air in TO is not good for you.
