The previous answer didn't really give you the right Information, I think.

BEFORE you can become a citizen of Canada, there is a process that you must follow, to become a legal immigrant to Canada.

You must apply and be accepted, based on what specific education and employment skills you have to offer us. You must have skills that we NEED here. Just wanting to come is not enough.

After you have applied and been accepted, to become a permanent resident of Canada, then you can move to Canada , and start to look for work and settle down here. After having been here for at least 3 years, as a PR, you can then apply to become a citizen of Canada.

So, as you can see it is not as easy as you thought it was going to be, is it ?

Here is the link to the main Immigration Canada website, READ it carefully, and make note of the requirements to qualify for either a work visa or PR status.

You cannot simply purchase citizenship. You need to go through the process of immigration and if Immigration Canada doesn't want you you can't make them accept you by paying more. The only way to "buy" admission in Canada is the CA$400,000 investment as stated above.

I moved from Michigan to BC. We started our sponsorship/permanent resident paperwork last August. Between the paperwork costs/fees, the doctors apt.'s, traveling, food, etc. from start to finish (August to April) it was about $2200 for me to get my permanent resident fee. Thats without the flight ticket over here, etc.

$490 to start with and then the rest of the fees go on top of that depending upon your situation. Each one is different and each type of application costs differently so check the link and start calculating from there. You are most likely looking at over $2000 by the time you are done and then the actual moving expenses. Of course, it could take 4-7 years go get in.
