In defence of Surrey , it is not skanky :P
Surrey includes Whalley, not great, maybe you can calI IT skanky,Newton ,family places,Guilford, family living,Cloverdale country living almost, and South Surrey (swanky not skanky)

Houses in Vancouver start at the very low end ( were talking older house needs some work ) around 450,000
in Surrey about 350,00 Burbnaby Coquitlam etc are about the same starting at 350,000. Anything in a nicer area of Vancouver, say Kitilano, or by a golf course 1 million and up

ozgeonemli
even the cheapest area starts from $400.000. if you want to buy an avarage house it is around $800,000.

Sally Can Wait
That's a pretty open ended question there. House or condo or apartment? Vancouver city or Lower Mainland? Fraser River seperates Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminister, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, and Coquitlam from Richmond, Delta, Ladner, Chilliwak, Langley, and Surrey. Surrey is a gross town. Not a ghetto per se, but it's sorta stanky you know. Every province has an ugly town. An average house on the Surrey side goes for about 350k CDN, on the Vancouver side an average house is about 400k, going up to 1 million once you hit Vancouver city itself. Refine your question a bit so I can help you more.

Coquitlam is not the cheap area. It's about the same as Burnaby. Surrey and out towards Ladner/Chilliwak is where the REAL cheap property is.

depends, Vancouver is just a small city, BUT GREATER VANCOUVER is where you want to buy. Greater vancouver is a bunch of small citys that are 2 mins away from each other. If you are buying a mantion for a cheap price you have to buy one in Port Moody. If you want to buy an apartmant, you have to buy it Downtown of Vancouver or Burnaby. If you want to buy a house or a town house REALLY cheap, you buy from coquitlam.

Buy a HOUSE in Vancouver...No less than $600,000 American

Da Ben Dan
I think the average house price in Vancouver right now is about 600,000 dollars american or canadian...of course there are much more expensive/cheaper areas.

lots...if u want a place with a view of the ocean its close to a million now...condos go for 500,000.00 and up...and theres usually a waiting list on the day bidding opens
