How much tip is reasonable to give? (Ontario, Canada)?

Hello everybody,

I booked a shuttle bus going to Pearson Airport (Toronto, CA), from my house to airport is about 90 kms. The fare was paid in advance. My question is: how much tip is reasonable to give to the driver? I'm a student and my budget is tight but I don't want to upset the driver.

I wouldn't tip the bus driver. The only people I tip really are the people that make a lower wage BECAUSE of tips, which is ridiculous and unfair. So, I tip waitresses only, and probably only cause they have the power to spit in my food! (But I'm a little cheap.)

"Hi"......your driver will probably be a seasoned veteran who's carried a potpourri of socio-economic classes on his coach !

If you are a student he will know that and therefore know you are on a budget , and if you do tip him , it's your way of saying Thanks for a safe trip !

To be honest if you gave him $5.00 ,he would be appreciative and would'nt feel guilty and may even tell you to keep it, then again he may not ! *lol*

Either way he won't be upset if he is a professional....so tip only what you can safely afford and only if he deserves it !*S*

Hope that helps ya ! *S* (Michael C...)

In the US you don't tip the bus driver,....if you want to it would be 10-20% of the fare, but not less than a Dollar.

We usually give $5 per person. I know this isn't all that much but it's all we can afford.

15% is average. 20% is for excellent service. If you're on a budget, I'm sure 10% would be ok.
Then again, is this shuttle a private one ordered just for you, or are you sharing it with a number of other passengers? If it's a shared shuttle, then tips might not be expected.

15 or 20% of the total cost of the meal
